Conditions Treated
Addressing Acute & Chronic Conditions
Reduced Stress & Anxiety
Stress refers to a person´s unadaptive response to pressure, both internal and external. We are often aware of stress caused by our workload or co-workers, the demands of our family, and other external sources such annoying circumstances like traffic jams; however, internally generated stress from self imposed demands, beliefs, and self-criticism are also significant.
All sources of stress in a person´s life add up over time until symptoms appear. These symptoms may manifest themselves psychologically as irritability, anxiety, impaired concentration, mental confusion, poor judgment, frustration, and anger. Common physical symptoms of stress include muscle tension, headaches, low back pain, loss of focus, insomnia, and high blood pressure; however, doctors now recognize that stress contributes to the development of countless diseases.
Treatments at YourBodyBalanced are unique in that they identify and address the most important stressors at any given time. After sessions, patients report feeling as though internal knots have been untied, so that their overall sense of tension is greatly reduced. Periodic sessions result in a greater sense of ease overall. Staying balanced, physically and emotionally, decreases the amount of time it takes to bounce back from a stressed state and move on with our lives.
Pain Relief
Pain itself is not a diagnosis, but rather an indication or warning that there is a problem somewhere in the body. Sometimes the exact location of pain points to where the problem is, as in the case of elbow pain above an inflamed tendon. But in other situations, the cause of the problem is not so obvious.
Rather than focusing on masking your pain, at YourBodyBalanced we use a comprehensive protocol to identify the most important areas to address to stimulate the body’s healing response. Results are often quick and dramatic; most importantly, this approach guards your long-term health.
Research has demonstrated that Energy Medicine:
- Raises endorphin levels
- Diminishes the nervous system’s pain response
- Decreases inflammation and swelling
- Relaxes muscles and stops spasms
- Increases nerve, blood, and lymph circulation in the local area.
Enhanced Sports and Professional Performance
A lot of factors play into topnotch sports performance. Even though you´ve trained and conditioned, how well you play is determined by the complex interaction of physical, mental, and emotional factors. This truly is an occasion where you need to be finely tuned and exquisitely balanced. At YourBodyBalanced, we can help identify and resolve whatever it is that is holding you back from doing your best!
The same principles apply to any professional endeavor. Lawyers in the courtroom, surgeons in the operating room, professors in the lecture hall need to perform at their highest levels. Balancing treatments make all your resources available to you, and put you “in the zone.”
Allergies/Intolerances Relief
Balancing the body´s reactivity is crucial to successfully working with allergies. Allergies result when the body launches an immune response to the presence of substances that are benign, such as pollen. Many people experience allergic reactions to substances, such as particular foods, which normally would be health enhancing.
Allergy treatments can produce quick results;in many cases, relief is experienced immediately, and a problem with the allergen is never experienced again. (See the case history for allergies.) Other allergies involve working with complex emotional issues and negatively charged memories of events surrounding the development of the allergy. These cases may take three to four sessions to clear and balance relevant underlying factors.
YourBodyBalanced treatments often help people resolve “allergies” or intolerances to specific people, places, or circumstances in their lives. These patients report significant improvements in their mental wellbeing and sense of harmony.
Fatigue
If you experience fatigue as a problem, we can help! Treatments at YourBodyBalance address many of the common causes of fatigue: energy blockages, digestive system weaknesses, emotional factors, and immune system stressors such as parasites.
If you experience fatigue as a problem, we can help! Treatments at YourBodyBalance address many of the common causes of fatigue: energy blockages, digestive system weaknesses, emotional factors, and immune system stressors such as parasites.
Energy Blockages: The solution may be as straightforward as openning up one of your energy systems: your major chakras or your acupuncture meridians. Strengthening energy flow within the body gives you a sense of energy and wellbeing.
Digestive System Weakness: Most people recognize their digestive system as an important source of energy. When people are balanced, they are less likely to crave foods that are not good for them. Treatments can also help strengthen the digestive system so that you can better use the nutritious food you are eating.
Emotional Factors: Certainly everyone has had the experience of being “worn out” after an argument or enduring an ongoing stressful situation. By changing your relationship to stressors, YourBodyBalanced treatments address emotional issues which sap energy and vitality.
Parasites: When the cause of fatigue is not obvious, it could be that the immune system is launching an ongoing, though unsuccessful, attempt at eliminating a virus, fungus, or parasite. If at the time of the initial infection, a pathogen is not completely destroyed, it can “go underground.” The metabolic activity of parasitic organisms is an incredible drain. At YourBodyBalanced, we can help focus the immune system´s efforts to actually take care of an infection once and for all.
Any individual case of fatigue may include some or all of the factors discussed above or have aspects particular to the individual. In all cases, YourBodyBalanced treatments will be tailored to help a person feel more energized; this enhanced vitality will help you better appreciate life as well as pursue your own life goals.
Pre- and Post- Operative Support
Surgery may be necessary, but it´s not necessarily easy to recover from. Patients have reported how balancing treatments have helped reduce the pain and inflammation associated with surgery. With the reduction in discomfort, their whole experience has been that they were quickly back on their feet and feeling well again.
Before surgery, the bodily systems which support the area to be operated are highlighted and strengthened. After surgery, treatments help re-establish communication between the surgically repaired area and the rest of the body. Then, you´re on your way to a more sure and speedy recovery!
World Health Organization Report
In 2003, the World Health Organization released a report to provide a review and analysis of controlled clinical trials of acupuncture therapy, as reported in the current literature, with a view to strengthening and promoting the appropriate use of acupuncture in health care systems throughout the world.
The diseases or disorders for which acupuncture therapy has been tested in controlled clinical trials reported in the recent literature can be classified into four categories as shown below.
1. Diseases, symptoms or conditions for which acupuncture has been proved-through controlled trials-to be an effective treatment:
Adverse reactions to radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy
Allergic rhinitis (including hay fever)
Biliary colic
Depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke)
Dysentery, acute bacillary
Dysmenorrhoea, primary
Epigastralgia, acute (in peptic ulcer, acute and chronic gastritis, and gastrospasm)
Facial pain (including craniomandibular disorders)
Headache
Hypertension, essential
Hypotension, primary
Induction of labour
Knee pain
Leukopenia
Low back pain
Malposition of fetus, correction of
Morning sickness
Nausea and vomiting
Neck pain
Pain in dentistry (including dental pain and temporomandibular dysfunction)
Periarthritis of shoulder
Postoperative pain
Renal colic
Rheumatoid arthritis
Sciatica
Sprain
Stroke
Tennis elbow
2. Diseases, symptoms or conditions for which the therapeutic effect of acupuncture has been shown but for which further proof is needed:
Abdominal pain (in acute gastroenteritis or due to gastrointestinal spasm)
Acne vulgaris
Alcohol dependence and detoxification
